GLENN WALKER
Played by Stephen Bain
Glenn, Melissa's estranged husband (after episode 1), is feeling guilty about having left the family unit, and overcompensates with both Melissa and Paige. He has to work hard to make a viable post-separation relationship with Mel and Paige a reality.
Glenn is a few years older than Melissa. At the start of the series, they've been married for around fifteen years. In some ways Glenn is on a similar journey of discovery and re-evaluation as Melissa. Which is partly why - despite the obvious shock Melissa goes through in the wake of his extra-marital dalliance - she finds it hard to bear him any malice long term.
Glenn is also a useful representation of Melissa's Old World. While we never seriously think she'll get back together with him, he does represent - as ex's often do - the familiar and safe. They have a shared past and have been through a lot together. And through Paige they need to continue to have some sort of workable relationship.
