MICK
Played by Jeff Whiting
Mick's a man's man. Not only ruggedly handsome but a real handyman, having served his time as a joiner. After completing his apprenticeship Mick was impatient to travel and found his skills welcome wherever he went. He picked up a good deal of commercial savvy along the way, and with his skills as a builder, good luck and good timing, Mick has done all right for himself doing up buildings, and then selling them for a tidy profit. It hasn't made him rich, but it has given him enough money to indulge his passion for boats, and he's the proud owner of the 20 metre ketch 'Jacaranda', his floating apartment. Although Mick's the sort of guy that would never break the bloke's 'code' – would never rip off a mate, weasel out of buying a round or hit a woman - he's also secure enough to verbalise emotion in a way that would be foreign to most real 'blokes'. This latter quality makes Mick very attractive to women, including Melissa, but from a long-term relationship point of view Mick does have one fault - his feet. From time to time they need to have the heeling deck of a boat beneath them, ideally a boat headed toward some new and exciting destination.
